Nature's Rhythm

The Amazon changes its face every few months. Whether you want to paddle through flooded treetops or walk deep jungle trails, there is a perfect time for you.

March to June

High Water Season

"The river rises up to 12 meters. The jungle becomes a flooded forest (Igapó)."

  • Canoe through the treetops
  • Better access to remote lagoons
  • Cooler temperatures
  • Aquatic wildlife is closer to the canopy
July to October

Low Water Season

"The river recedes, revealing beautiful white sand beaches and islands."

  • Great for jungle trekking & hiking
  • Excellent caiman and bird spotting
  • Amazonian beaches emerge
  • Fishing season is at its peak

Pink Dolphin Spotting

Unlike other wildlife, Pink Dolphins are present year-round. However, the experience changes: In High Water, you can see them between the trees! In Low Water, they gather in the main river channels.

Weather FAQ

When is the best time to see Pink Dolphins?

Pink Dolphins can be seen year-round in the Amazon River and lakes like Tarapoto. However, during High Water (March-June), they often swim deep into the flooded forests.

Does it rain every day in the Amazon?

It is a rainforest, so rain is possible any day. However, during the 'Dry' season (July-Sept), showers are usually short and heavy, followed by bright sunshine.

Is it too hot in Leticia?

Temperatures are consistent (25°C to 30°C). The humidity is what makes it feel hotter, but at Îkü Reserve, our bioclimatic cabins are designed for natural airflow.
